treetops colour harmonies was established by nancy ballesteros in 1986 while living with her husband mark in her home town of tulsa, oklahoma (usa).  nancy's father was a painter and was a talented woodturner and her mother a wonderful sewer.  she grew up enjoying a myriad of art lessons and confesses to sewing away most of her teenage years.  it was only natural that her life-long passion for fibres took over as she began to slowly realise that she was not happy with her career in geology.  it was then the dream of treetops began and not long after she began marketing a line of hand dyed, hand spun and hand knit jumpers (sweaters).   it quickly became apparent, however, that what people really loved about her creative efforts was the passion and flare she had for colour.  so, nancy decided to do just that - create colours!  the next three years were spent developing an international mail order business for her hand dyed fibres.  the colourways she developed became known as "colour harmonies" and treetops was the name of their property in the woods outside of tulsa.  

in 1990 mark was transferred to perth, so treetops moved to australia.  the passing of the new millennium has brought many changes.  mark retired from eighteen years as a geologist and now actively helps run the business side of things while nancy focuses on the creative side - and they both do their best to keep up with the boundless energies of their son aaron (11) and daughter selena (6).  

treetops now fully stocks representatives in north america, europe and new zealand with it's symphony of repeatable colourways. we use only superfine australian merino wools and import a variety of lustrous silk fibres from china.
