 the velvet is twisted to dry leaving a scrunched appearance to the fabric (may be ironed out).

that reflect the subtle tonal variations found in nature.  for your ease,  we have especially created three

 palettes within the range. there are 10 neutrals/pastels, 14 earth tones and 10 brights.

colour nuance sampler mixes 

foundation palette: a great way to try a little bit of a lot of colours.  contains nearly all 34 colour nuances, approx. 50 cm each. 400gm = $42.72

colour nuance sampler mix: by ordering a sampler mix you will receive approximately one meter of eight to ten different colours in a particular colour palette.  three palettes to choose from: 

        neutral/pastels 250gm = $26.36; earth tones  250gm = $26.36; brights 250gm = $26.36 

colour nuance superfine merino carded wool batts

we have carded together several colours of our superfine merino tops into batts which are approximately .5 meter wide x 1.25 meter long and weigh close to 200gms. you can easily peel-off layers for felting thinner projects. 200gms = $24.55 (each batt varies in weight somewhat, we will charge you for the exact weight of the batt)

medium grade wool batts

natural coloured 26 micron (approximate microns, it does vary somewhat) batts available in white, sandy beige, silver grey, dark grey brown, smokey grey and cinnamon.  the batt has been lightly needle felted so it holds together well.  great for school kids projects, felt carpets or wall hangings.  the size of a batt is 2.4 x 1.8 meters, 2cm thick and weighs approx. 1.3 kg = $76.82 ($59.09/kg).  smaller pieces may be purchased by the square meter, average weight being 300gms per square meter = $17.72.

silk hankies: a "hanky” is a degummed bombyx silk cocoon that has been stretched over a square frame.  each layer consists of  a cobweb-like random preparation of silk.  several layers together become dense in appearance.  great fun to experiment with: 50 gm = $10.00 or 100gm = $20.00

silk textured waste: spaghetti-like (degummed) bombyx silk filaments, fantastic for texture. it has a

silk paper instructions and adhesive mediums (also called silk fusion)

this simple technique creates a silk fabric without having to spin or weave the fibres first.  they are held together instead by adhesive mediums (see list below).  the silk 'paper' can be easily manipulated in a variety of ways - scrunching, moulding, stitching....  you can create sculptural pieces, jewellery, book coverings, collage, free machine embroidery, hats, purses, etc.  it's diverse applications are limited only by your imagination!  for more information on silk paper.
