nuance wool shipment:
our new stocks will be arriving early april from our custom
dye house. we are excited to bring back a wonderful
mid-grey called urban. in our new run we have taken the
opportunity to finely tune some colours in order to better
reflect our vision of a diverse and exciting palette. the
following colours have been adjusted: verdant, midori,
burnt sienna, china blue, iced mint and lemon zinger.
please remember that in the nuance range we strive to offer an
affordable wool top (hence it is factory dyed not hand dyed)
which mimics hand dyeing. in the nuance range there are
subtle tonal variations happening throughout the top. some
colours (because of the way dye chemistry works) will appear to
have more tonal variations than other colours, generally the
deeper the shade the more uniform the dyeing looks, but if
compared to a uniformly
factory
dyed top, our nuance wools appear softer and more
interesting to the eye. it is uniquely different, enjoy!
special announcement:
most
people realize that australia has been experiencing one of our
worst droughts. As a result, the price of wool has
increased due to the reduction in the number of sheep as well as
an overall increase in transport (fuel) costs and a dramatic
price increase from the dye house that we commission to dye our
nuance wools. treetops has no choice but to adjust our wool
prices effective immediately
(08/10/07).
colour nuance batts:
these batts will be discontinued as soon as stocks run out.
coarse wool batts:
now also
available in silver grey, dark grey brown, and smokey grey.
Along with
white, sandy beige and cinnamon.
natural coloured 26 micron batts available are great for school kids projects, felt carpets
or wall hangings. the size of a batt is 2.4 x 1.8 meters,
2cm thick and weighs approx. 1.5 kg = $88.00 ($55/kg).
smaller pieces may be purchased by the meter, average weight
being 300gms per meter = $16.00.

silk laps: all laps are now completely out of stock
(except for a few remaining sale pieces listed below). currently we can not purchase any laps from
our suppliers in china because of a bad season for
tussah cocoons. On top of a bad season, over christmas
China had a huge snow storm that devastative their mulberry
trees (the silk worms food source) and they are now predicting
one of the worst seasons ever for silk production. the
price of silk is expected to nearly double this year.

silk laps 50% discount
with these laps we have experienced that they will loose dye
during felting. to minimize the dye loss use very little
soap and cold water only. all sizes laps and scarf lengths
available. colours: indian ink, basic black and bougainvillea

we have tussah tops in the colour blue gum, vintage port, spice
market, terra rosa, clare ash, royal indigo, pewter grey, russet. these silks will have
