Bombyx Silk TopsTreetops imports only the finest most lustrous grade A-1 Chinese silk for our hand dyed silk range. Bombyx silk is commonly referred to as 'Mulberry Silk'. The silkworms are only fed mulberry leaves and thereby produce a stunning pearl-white, highly lustrous silk. Scrumptious for felting, handspinning or silk paper making. |
 Tussah Silk Tops |
Tussah Silk TopsTussah silkworms are reared in the wild on tree leaves which contain tannin, thereby creating a lightly honey-coloured silk. Our tops have a 3-4 inch staple length. Tussah silk is slightly less fine and lustrous than Bombyx silk. A wonderful choice for felting, handspinning or silk paper making. |

Silk HankiesSilk hankies come from cocoons which have been de-gummed, pierced and stretched layer upon layer over a small 25cm square frame. Each cocoon is as sheer as a cobweb – or use several layers together for a more textural effect in felt. Silk hankies are also used for handspinning or creating silk paper. |
